ABOUT US

Just a couple of months arriving from Canada in 1972, David began his career in the Music Industry. His first employment was working for MGM Records/Verve Records in Los Angeles. By 1973, the company promoted David and transferred him to their Northern California office based in San Francisco. Shortly thereafter he took over as a sales representative for sister company UDC/Phonodisc. As both companies were absorbed by German conglomerate PolyGram, David was asked to take over promotion duties for Mercury Records and soon made his mark in promotion for breaking Thin Lizzy with “Boys Are Back in Town” , other new artists began their starts out of the San Francisco market, such as Graham Parker, The Ohio Players and 10CC. Soon came an offer to move over to RCA Records and before long, David was promoted to the position of Western Regional Manager working with David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Henry Mancini, Hall & Oates, John Denver and Dolly Parton to name a few. In 1984, after relocating back to Los Angeles, he realized the significance of the Spanish speaking community and the potential of Spanish Language Rock. And thus began the birth of his new company “Clásica Moderna”, later to be distributed by WEA International. (Rock en Español was brand new to the USA and unfortunately didn’t catch on for another 10 years or so). In addition to the Clásica Moderna label, David’s NY associate, Sammy Vargas asked David to assist him on breaking a brand new act. After meeting the band in New York and watching them perform, he fell in love with the sound and image. That band, The Gipsy Kings.

In 1990 as the Spanish market and Clásica Moderna was going through a transitional period, David got back into the Anglo side of the business and soon accepted an offer as National Director of Adult Promotion for Columbia Records- Santa Monica, where he remained until 1995 working with Julio Iglesias, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Michael Bolton, Barbara Streisand, Bruce Cockburn, Mariah Carey, and others.

In 1995 Forman Bros. Holdings Inc. was created and was known as First Music. It consisted of Forman Bros. Recordings, an International A &R company and the First Music International Radio web streaming company & international on-line licensing marketing place (representing Luciano Pavarotti’s recording debut performance of “Bohème del Debutto” and up and coming songwriters and recording group “Dreamhouse”. A few years on, David was asked by long time music attorney (the late) Robert Kardashian and music executive Joel Newman to help out with their new company – Movie Tunes, placing music in theatres throughout the USA. (David now serves as a Sr.VP and Executive Advisor). New ventures now include racking music into Shell Oil stations throughout the USA and soon, Canada.

Today the company is best known to its international colleagues and film/TV/advertising music supervisors for involvement with Eva Cassidy, Al Jarreau, Andrius Mamontovas, Dreamhouse, London Bus Stop, Mudmen and The Elefantz. Over the years, the company has made deals and cross promoted with Anheuser Busch’s “Budweiser”, The Los Angeles Kings Hockey Team, Coors Brewing Co., The Recording Academy’s GRAMMY AWARDS, City Of Hope, etc. A new affiliation was formed with Canada’s Premier Muzik International on neighboring rights issues and forensic accounting of copyright matters.

The company expanded in early 2006 to begin an Artist Management division with Celtic Rock/Punksters MUDMEN, Pop chanteuse Stella Black, and the wacky/bizarre Wank Punter band.
